Climate Change

by Carol Lin

Climate change has many unpleasant causes and people are not taking it as seriously as they should. Both humans and wild animals get new challenges every year because of climate change. Climate change is caused by many things that are caused by human activity. Simply riding in a car to go to whenever you need to go could cause a large impact. Over 8 billion people live on this earth which is a lot and if everyone only drove a car once in their lifetime it would already cause lots of damage but many ride in cars on a daily basis. This is extremely harmful to the environment because the gas from the billions of car rides warm up the planet and soon it could be felt by the human body. Although the change in temperature over the last few years was not drastic, the year of 2023 is warmer than the year 2022. Many other human activities contribute to climate change like cutting down trees. Trees are extremely important to the environment and we are cutting so many down. Most of the land that buildings like offices, apartments, and houses take use to be filled with many trees and wild animals. Not only is cutting down trees terrible for wildlife but the process also is a part of climate change. When they cut down trees they have machines which may produce gas and cars to transport the remains of the thousands of trees. When they need to build something in the land it contributes even more to climate change because the machines and vehicles that are needed to create the buildings create greenhouse gasses which are terrible for the environment. There are also many ways to improve climate change or at least not make it any worse than it already is. Something very simple like carpooling can save the planet in many ways. When you carpool less cars are needed and less greenhouse gas is exposed to the air. Another way is to go on less drives so if possible you can walk to your destination instead of driving. Walking will give you exercise which is incredibly important and save the planet by not using cars or airplanes. If the destination is too far to walk, electric bikes or normal bikes are also a great alternative. There are many other terrible things that cause climate change and should be taken more seriously by trying to expose as little greenhouse gas to the environment as possible.
